Simplicity is Strength: Nchumbeni's Journey Towards Minimalism in Nagaland's Mountains

"Living close to nature has taught me the importance of preserving the environment. We need to take care of our surroundings and do our bit to protect it."- Says Nchumbeni

In the outskirts of Dimapur, Nagaland, lives Nchumbeni, a Naga lady who has become an inspiration for many. She has chosen to live a minimalist life, close to nature, and has found great joy in doing so. Nchumbeni's simple way of life has not only helped her to maintain good health but has also inspired others in the village to live a more natural and fulfilling life.

Nchumbeni's daily routine is centered around her love for nature and the environment. She wakes up early in the morning, goes for a walk to collect the woods, and breathes in the fresh air. After her morning walk, she eats a hearty breakfast of red rice and beef, which is a staple in the Naga diet. Nchumbeni believes that eating locally sourced food is crucial for maintaining good health and physical stamina.

She says, "The food we eat has a direct impact on our body and mind. Eating local, fresh food is essential for a healthy and balanced lifestyle and we "

For me, food is not just about sustenance; it is also about culture, tradition, and identity. By eating locally grown and harvested food, I am not only supporting local farmers and businesses but also preserving our unique food culture and traditions. This approach to food has allowed me to have a greater appreciation for the natural resources that sustain us, and has given me a deeper sense of purpose and belonging in my community.

Nchumbeni is not just an advocate for healthy living but is also a strong and determined woman. She can lift up to 100kg at a time for more than 20 minutes without breaking a sweat. Her physical strength is a result of her daily routine, which includes doing all the household chores by herself. She believes that staying active and doing physical work is essential for maintaining good health and staying fit.

Nchumbeni's simple lifestyle has also made her an integral part of the community. She not only helps others in the village with their daily chores but also teaches them how to live a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle.

She says, "I studied journalism, and I have had the opportunity to taste different types of food from around the world. However, there is something unique and special about the food grown in my own community in Nagaland's mountains. I have not tasted any food that is grown outside of our region because I believe in the importance of building a deeper connection with my land and community. Living close to nature has taught me the importance of preserving the environment. We need to take care of our surroundings and do our bit to protect it."

Living a minimalist lifestyle in the mountains has allowed me to prioritize what truly matters and to live in harmony with nature. It has given me the physical and mental strength to do all the work by myself and to help others in my community. I believe that this approach to life is not only good for me but also for the environment.

In a world that is increasingly becoming materialistic and disconnected from nature, Nchumbeni's way of life is a reminder that happiness and fulfillment can be found in simplicity. Her life is a shining example of how living close to nature, eating local, and staying active can lead to a healthy mind and body. Nchumbeni's message is clear: "We don't need materialistic things to be happy. We need to connect with nature, live a simple life, and help others. That's where true happiness lies."

Nchumbeni shares her story to Team Nutreat and make us realize how her er simple yet fulfilling life is a reminder that we can find joy and happiness in the little things in life. Living close to nature, eating local, and staying active can lead to a healthy and balanced life for any of us. Don't you agree ?
